In spite of wounds received, Sandoval immediately galloped into the camp of Cortes. Finding his commander alive, but worried the lack of news from Alvarado, he went to Takubu. He got there just in time to prevent the capture of one of the brigantines, stranded, and there was injured by a stone from a sling in the face. He received another injury during raids in an effort to clear the dam from the attacking hordes of the Mexica. He led the cavalry in one attack after another, despite the slippery surface of the dam; crossbowmen and musketeers firing without interruption, other soldiers charged, their weapons; Marines cut and cut swing. Even the cannon fire is not terrible fiercely attacked the Mexica, drunk with the victory. The battle continued unabated until the Spaniards retreated almost to the Takuby, until the end of the dam, and left between themselves and the enemy a broad band of water.
